Cincinnati Area Chapter Named a Top Performer

The Cincinnati Area Chapter of the American Red Cross has been named one of the best-performing chapters in the United States by the American National Red Cross in Washington, D.C.

A chemical peel is a body treatment technique used to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin using a chemical solution that causes the skin to blister and eventually peel off. The regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. Thus the term chemical peel is derived. Some types of chemical peels can be purchased and administered without a medical license, however people are advised to seek professional help from a plastic surgeon or dermatologist on a specific type of chemical peel before a procedure is performed.

The field of hand surgery deals with both surgical and non-surgical treatment of conditions and problems that may take place in the hand or upper extremity (commonly from the tip of the hand to the shoulder). Hand surgery may be practiced by graduates of general surgery, orthopaedic surgery and plastic surgery.

Hair transplantation involves relocating (transplanting) bald resistant hair follicles from the back and sides of the head (the donor areas) to a person’s bald or thinning areas. The transplanted hair follicles will typically grow hair for a lifetime because they are genetically resistant to going bald. In recent years hair transplantation techniques have evolved from using large plugs and mini grafts to exclusively using large numbers of small grafts that contain from between 1 to 4 hairs.

Like hair extensions, eyelash extensions are a cosmetic process whereby synthetic single fiber polyester thread like materials are applied to create a fuller, longer look.[citation needed] Once a product accessible only to a limited consumer, eyelash extensions have become more popular and affordable.

Vaginoplasty is any surgical procedure whose purpose is to treat vaginal structural defects, affect aesthetic considerations, or to partially or totally construct or reconstruct a vagina. The term vaginoplasty is used to describe any such vaginal surgery, while the term neovaginoplasty is more specifically used to refer to procedures of partial or total construction or reconstruction of the vulvovaginal complex.

Youth Rally

The 12th Annual American Red Cross Youth Rally, “You’ve Got the Power,” will offer learning and service opportunities in an exciting environment. The event is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 21, at the Madisonville Recreation Center, 5320 Stewart Ave., Cincinnati. Cost for the event is $3 per person, with lunch provided.

Freedom Stations Program

The Cincinnati Area Chapter of the American Red Cross was recently honored as one of the founding 30 “Freedom Stations” at a special reception at the National Underground Freedom Center.

Otoplasty, is a cosmetic surgery to change the appearance of a person's external ears. Otoplasty can take many forms, such as bringing the ears closer to the head (often called ear pinning), reducing the size of very big ears, or reshaping various bends in the cartilage. Other reconstructive procedures deal with the deformed, or abscent-microtic ears.

Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty (liposculpture), liposculpture or suction lipectomy ("suction-assisted fat removal") is a cosmetic surgery operation that removes fat from many different sites on the human body. Areas affected can range from the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, to the neck, backs of the arms and elsewhere. The fat is usually removed via a cannula (a hollow tube) and aspirator (a suction device).

Body contouring is a general term that refers to any surgical procedure that alters different areas of the body, whether it is in a massive weight loss patient or not. Body contouring after massive weight loss refers to a series of procedures that eliminate and/or reduce excess skin and fat that remains after obese individuals lose a significant amount of weight, in a variety of places including the torso, upper arms, chest, and thighs.

Lip enhancement is a type of cosmetic surgery that aims to improve the appearance of the lips by increasing their fullness through enlargement.

A forehead lift (brow lift), also known as a browlift or browplasty, is a cosmetic surgery procedure used to elevate a drooping eyebrow that may obstruct vision and/or to remove the deep “worry” lines that run across the forehead and may portray to others anger, sternness, hostility, fatigue or other unintended emotions.
